My Patient Approach

In ENT practice, **explaining the correct treatment plan to the patient** is just as central as reaching a diagnosis. Before deciding on tonsil or adenoid surgery, I prefer to have a lengthy conversation with the family — because whenever surgery is not unavoidable, medical management is always the first option.

For sinusitis, allergy and nasal obstruction, my standard approach is to assess the response to medical treatment before considering surgery. When endoscopic sinus surgery is indicated, I walk the patient through the anatomy on CT images and explain the planned procedure clearly; the process should be a shared decision, not a surprise.

Years of clinical practice and health-policy work have taught me one thing above all: **reliable communication with the patient** is half the treatment. If you have questions after your consultation, do not hesitate to ask; follow-up appointments are also an opportunity for a more detailed conversation.
